F.C. Como Women defeated 1-0 by Inter
The Como Women were defeated 1-0 at the 'Arena Civica Gianni Brera' stadium in the 15th round of the Serie A Femminile eBay.
In the first half, the team led by Gianpiero Piovani created a couple of dangerous chances. In the 6th minute, Tomaselli's header missed the goal, and in the 29th minute, Magull delivered a soft ball for Wullaert, whose side-footed shot demanded an outstanding foot save from Gilardi. The Como team, however, defended compactly but failed to capitalise on the counterattacks that Inter allowed in this first part of the match.
In the second half, Inter found the lead in the 69th minute thanks to a brilliant move by Schough, who played a ball to Polli, who controlled it with her chest and, alone in the area one-on-one with Gilardi, netted the goal for 1-0. All opportunities for Sottili's team came from Elisa Del Estal, who came on in the second half, first in the 74th minute on a counterattack following a mistake by Inter's defence, and then a few minutes later with a right-footed volley that skimmed the top corner.
Despite the late attacks from Como Women, the match ended 1-0 for the home team. The next commitment for Sottili's team will be on Saturday, 25 January at 12:30 against Sassuolo at 'Ferruccio' Stadium in Seregno (MB).

Stefano Sottili's analysis
Comment on the match: 'Inter have only lost one match so far and that was in the final minutes at Florence. They are second in the league and we competed equally. They are not second without reason: they have the best defence in the league. They are also the only team we haven’t managed to score against. Unfortunately, the result was the same as the first leg.'
He then added: 'Inter did not create many goal-scoring opportunities, but we certainly could have been more accurate and decisive in the chances we had. In the first half, in some counterattack situations, we could have been more clear-headed. Despite everything, I'm satisfied with the girls' performance: they gave everything they could. From what was seen on the pitch, a draw would not have been an unjust result. We leave with heads held high: the girls played a good match and had several chances to equalise.'
On the team's performance and attitude: “The performance was extremely positive, only the result was negative. This must give us confidence in what we are doing and awareness that the path we have taken is the right one. Facing the best defence in the league and managing to create 3-4 goal chances means that we have worked well during the week. We are also recovering some players who can raise the quality level of the group, and this should make us even more aware of what we are doing, even if there is still something to improve. Looking to the future, we will see if we can grow and if we will be able to face Inter again: there, we will understand how much we have improved.”
On the goal conceded: “We conceded a somewhat naive goal. With the defence organised, on an external ball, a strong player like Polli cannot find herself completely alone. We could have done better in that episode.”
On the next match with Sassuolo: “This defeat must not affect the team's mood at all. On the contrary, it must give us even more awareness of what we are doing. We must work on episodes, details, and the management of some situations that we need to be more skilful in capitalising on, because against teams of this level you don't have ten goal chances. Those you have, you must exploit. Now we roll up our sleeves because the next match will be crucial if we want to reach fifth place, our seasonal goal.”
